>>experimental type<< is a collection and exploration of typographic movement, also known as kinetic typography. Motion type is mostly common in digital media. This allows messages to be conveyed more accurately to viewers. For example, type can suggest emotion, urgency, or lightness through even minimal movement.
Through an optical illusion (moiré effect), kinetic typography is translated from the digital medium into the analog print medium. An enclosed foil allows a multitude of pages to be displayed in motion. Words jump across the page layout, letters change shape, and entire sentences emerge from unpredictable elements. An immersion in the exploration of moving type.
Together with a fellow student (@timowehr) we created this magazine at our University, Fh Aachen in Germany. Enjoy!
